Dear Parker Families;

Please consider taking advantage of these great events in our community! Most events are free and open to the public. If you would like an event posted in the Friday Announcements, please feel free to email me information at skelly@theparkerschool.org. I tend to reserve posting for free, open to the public events that are hosted by non-profit organizations or schools.

Sincerely,
Sheila Kelly, MA
School Counselor

A Nation Still At Risk? Education Reform & Democracy
March 4, 2018   3:00 - 4:30 PM
The Gallery at Villageworks 525 Massachusetts Avenue, West Acton

Thirty-five years after the government report A Nation At Risk sounded an alarm about our schools and the future of our society, there are still deep concerns about the level of education attained by our students and what that means for our democracy, which has itself come under scrutiny during these times of intense emotion around politics and elections.  Acton Coffee House will contribute to the conversation with a panel discussion that will include:

  • Mike Capuano, U.S. Representative, 7th District
  • Jamie Eldridge, Massachusetts State Senator, Middlesex and Worcester District
  • Phil George, English Teacher, Framingham High School
  • Sarah Cannon Holden, Lincoln Town Moderator, Lawyer, former School Committee member
  • Cecilia Hylton, Communications Associate, Barr Foundation
  • Colleen Meaney, Director, Theodore R. Sizer Teachers Center
  • Hal Salzman,  Professor of Planning and Public Policy, Edward J. Bloustein School, Rutgers University
  • Andrew Shen, Principal, R.J.Grey Junior High School, Acton
  • Arthur Unobskey, Superintendent, Wayland Public Schools
