Postural Screening Continues

Happy Friday from the Health Office!

Postural Screening

Postural screening will continue for students in grades 7-9 after April vacation. Students who are already being treated or monitored for scoliosis or other spinal curvatures do not need to be screened. This is often not documented on physical forms provided by your child’s doctor or nurse practitioner. Please contact me to let me know whether your child has already been diagnosed.

Students in grades 7-9 are growing rapidly and it is during this period of rapid growth that curvatures of the spine can present. Early detection can minimize the need for complex treatments later on.

Students will be screened during Wellness gym class in small, same sex groups.  I will give boys the option of group or individual screening but girls will be screened individually.  Boys will remove their shirts and girls should wear a bra, sports bra, bathing suit top, or cami/tank top. Feel free to call or email me with questions at lzick@theparkerschool.org or 978-772-3293 x 135
