We are SO fortunate to have a GENEROUS Community here at Parker. We sincerely appreciate such good giving at the beginning of the school year. We didn't get everyone's name, so we won't list any here, but we sincerely thank EACH AND EVERYONE for their contributions to benefit the various wish lists here at Parker!
Parker Jazz Band
The Parker Jazz Band is beginning its 18th year under the direction of bandleader, Frank Bonanno. The band is continuing to develop young musicians, while expanding its repertoire of jazz classics and contemporary music. Students have the opportunity to develop their ensemble playing skills as well as improvisational skills. All students are expected to practice consistently at home and Frank recommends that all students continue with individual lessons if possible.
Band practice will be held after school on Wednesdays, from 1:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. All musicians with at least one to two years’ experience on their instrument and a working knowledge of basic scales are welcome to join. We are asking students to make a serious commitment to the band, and to attend band practice on a regular basis, because ensemble music requires the musicians to develop together.
The fee for the Jazz Band will be $125 for the first term (September - January), to cover the costs of music and instruction. The fee for second term (February - June) will be due on January 24th. Scholarship money is available by request. The first practice will be Wednesday, September 20th.

When ordering, you may arrange for your purchases to be delivered to Parker free of charge and then pick it up at the Main Office, or you may pay to have the items shipped to your home.

PARKER LIFE REMINDERS
School Begins at 8:30 am Please plan to get your children to school by 8:25 am so they may be in their advisories by 8:30 am.
Procedures for Calling in Late Arrivals, Absences, or Early Dismissals School attendance is taken and records are reviewed daily. Parents or guardians must notify the school on a daily basis. Please let the office know of an absence before school starts.

In the case of a prolonged absence, the student’s parents should notify the Principal or designee in a timely manner. It is not appropriate for a student to call him or herself in late or absent. Parents are notified if their child is not present and the school has not received any prior notification regarding the absence. Teachers take attendance in every class and notify the School Office if any student is missing.
Carpool Pick-Up & Drop Off: The circular driveway in front of the school is for pickup and drop off only. Traffic flow around the circle is one-way only, counter clockwise. During peak traffic times, you may only make a right-hand turn out of the school driveway. There is no parking around the circle.
The first overflow lot is along the side of the soccer fields on Antietam Street. If this lot is full, there is more parking further down Antietam Street near the playground.
Please make certain that when you drive onto the school grounds and proceed around the circle, remember the 5 mph speed limit. Keep in mind that parking directly in front of the school building as this is a fire lane.
Student Directories Parker Student Directories will be available in the front office by the beginning of October at a cost of $3.00 each.
Keep Your Dishes! We appreciate the wonderful culinary skills throughout our community. We encourage the use of DISPOSIBLE containers whenever donating food items for potlucks, picnics, and parties!
CORI and RMV Status Remember, if you've had a CORI through Parker recently, it is good for THREE years. If you are planning to be a volunteer driver, we need an RMV check yearly, and an update copy of your driver's license whenever it expires.
