Seniors-MEFA-PSAT-Financial Aid

Weekly Update

What a busy couple of weeks it has been meeting with seniors. After going into all the Senior Seminars, our students are plugging through the application process. I have really enjoyed my meetings with this class and am so happy with the progress. Please continue to reach out for meetings and keep those college essays coming!

MEFA Financial Aid Night

On Wednesday October 24th from 6:00-8:00pm, we will have a MEFA Financial Aid presentation in the Parker Auditorium/Cafeteria. This is a free program that is hosted by MEFA (the Massachusetts Education Financing Authority), where they share info about planning for college and understanding the financial aid process from start to finish. We are lucky enough to have Donna Connolly speak again this year. She brings almost 30 years of experience in the college and college financial planning, as well as her own experience as a parent of college students. She is amazing!! While this is open to any parent, it generally attracts parents of juniors and seniors. Students are welcome to come to start to understand the cost of college, but it is entirely up to the family! I hope to see you there!

PSAT

Just a reminder that PSATs are being administered during school on Wednesday October 10th. There is no formal registration for this. It is expected that all sophomores and juniors will take this test. There is a $20 fee associated with taking the test, which was paid as part of the CAPS payment. If you have not made your payment yet, please do so at your earliest convenience.

FAFSA/CSS Profile

Parents of seniors: FAFSA will be available for you to start to fill out as of Monday October 1st. Please remember to fill out this form at your earliest convenience. This is where all government money comes form for financial assistance; grants, loans and work study program. There is a secondary financial aid form that some schools require called the CSS Profile. This is offered through College Board, has a fee to submit it, and allows schools to distribute their own institutional money.

As always, please reach out with any questions you may have!
