Community Information Week 10

“…A mindful school is clear about what it expects of a student and about how he can exhibit these qualities, just as a mindful student is one who knows where he is going, is disposed to get there, and is gathering the resources, the knowledge, and the skills to make the journey…”

Ted Sizer, Horace’s School: redesigning the American high school (Houghton, 1992)

Parker Families:

MARK YOUR CALENDARS!  Please consider joining in a ROLLING SALUTE of the Class of 2020 on Wednesday, June 3, at 6:00 PM in Devens.  We’re working out the assembly details with Devens public safety officials and will provide those details to you on Wednesday morning in the community email, but the concept is a “parade of support,” in cars, past the seniors, who will also be in vehicles.  As you know, graduation ceremonies for the class have been pushed back to later in the summer, and, when they occur, will likely be limited to immediate family members.  So this is the broader community’s best opportunity to “show up” in celebration of the Class of 2020!

This week the pioneering Class of 2020 continues presenting their Senior Exhibitions!  Look below for exhibitions scheduled for later today!

Parents, I want to thank you again for taking the time to express gratitude to the Parker faculty.  The daily influx of comments like this one make such a difference!

“…Thank you so much to the Parker teachers who have been working tirelessly to keep "school" going for our children.  In typical Parker fashion, there has been a wonderful mix of personal connections and academic content. Thank you for all that you do always, and especially now, in trying circumstances!”

Here are the topics we’re providing new information about this week:

  • Senior Exhibitions
  • Friday Note from Sheila
  • A Word from Nurse Lisa
  • Parker’s Digital Library

Be safe and well, Todd.

Senior Exhibitions

Senior Project Exhibitions continue!  The list of seniors exhibiting today is published below.  If the Exhibition is open to the whole community, you will see a shared link—please feel free to join as an audience member for those!

Congratulations to today’s Exhibiting Senior!

The Librarian is In - Schedule a time to meet with Carolyn or shoot her an email at cedwards@theparkerschool.org to see what’s newly released and to find your next great read!  Anything you can’t find on Sora?  Too long of a wait?  Let Carolyn know, and she’ll see if she can order it!  Ordering an ebook is much quicker than ordering print!  We’re talking hours, not days.
