Community Information Week 7

“…Wise schools do not vary the standards of accomplishment when they are clear. What they vary are the means to the ends, in ways that respect the differences of particular children…”

Ted Sizer, Horace’s School: redesigning the American high school (Houghton, 1992)

Parker Families:

Thanks to those of you who helped deliver yard signs to the Class of 2020 on Sunday!  If you’d like to help make the senior spring special for Parker’s Class of 2020, please email celebrate2020@theparkerschool.org.

Please take action to help all public schools in Massachusetts by reaching out to your congressional representatives today.  This is a time-sensitive request.  Here are the details, originally published last week:

In the near future, the federal government will consider a further stimulus package to respond to the COVID-19 crisis. In order to ensure that public schools in Massachusetts can continue to meet the needs of students and staff both during and beyond this crisis, now is the time to urge our congressional representatives to ensure that the new stimulus package prioritizes relief for state and municipal budgets and includes additional, dedicated funding to support K-12 public schools.

You can make a big impact by taking a very quick action: take 2 minutes today to send an email to your congressional representative (you can use the standard email template and click send or customize as you see fit).

Parents, I want to thank you again for taking the time to express gratitude to the Parker faculty. The daily influx of comments like this one make such a difference!

Thank you so much for the wonderful PLP yesterday. I was so touched by the fabulous way you connect with (our student) and the way you motivate him to try harder. We really appreciate all you do. You are an excellent teacher. We are so lucky.
