Community Connections Week 3
Dear students and families:
Today’s Community Connections launches Parker’s new Wednesday focus on Self-Directed Learning. (See Monday’s email for more details.) Rather than offer class lessons on Wednesdays, we are encouraging students to use it as a catch-up day and/or to deliberately pursue new interests and hobbies. (Teachers will be using it as a planning day.) In this video, Parker librarian Carolyn Edwards explains the hopes for our crowd-sourced plan for sharing resources and the products we create as we learn. These ideas, resources, and shared creations will be available at this website: Self-Directed Learning Resources. See what Carolyn has posted so far, and then email her directly (email@example.com) with your suggestions, good ideas, and creations, and she will post them to this site. Each week, our Wednesday email will include some new posts and highlight your ideas for self-directed learning!
Advisor Check-In Emails
Almost all students have already been in contact with their advisor(s) via email, video chats, and the like. Earlier this week, all advisors had a chance to gather input from teachers to see how their advisees are doing relative to engagement in Home Learning in each class. As part of a coordinated school effort, advisors will use this information as they reach out via email to each advisee (and cc parent/guardian) to check in and to offer continued help, encouragement and/or congratulations. Be on the lookout for that email today or tomorrow, and please let your advisor know how s/he can help.
