Weekly Information for November 18th

Weekly Information for November 18th
Dear Parker students, families and staff,

We hope that you have a terrific Thanksgiving holiday. Enjoy a restful break with your family and friends.
We celebrated Friendsgiving this week at Parker, a celebration of our community and an opportunity to say thanks. Our students competed in yam relay races, shared Thanksgiving treats and performed Karaoke with hundreds of background singers. We also showed gratitude for our many blessings here at Parker. By cultivating gratitude, we are more present to our emotions and to one another. We recognize the goodness in life and are more resilient when faced with adversity. This Thanksgiving, we pause to express gratitude. I am grateful for Parker, a humane and thoughtful community of learners. I am grateful to be a part of this terrific school.

Good luck to the Parker Cross Country team in the State Finals this weekend. The boys team defend their state title on Saturday, November 19 at 1:15 pm at Willard Park, Devens. Come out to support the team. Congratulations to girls cross country, boys soccer and girls soccer for terrific seasons. We competed hard throughout the season and postseason. We recognize several students who earned All-star honors for their hard work and performance – see the details and photo links below. We are very proud of our students! Winter sports start on Monday, November 28. We look forward to great seasons for Winter Track, Co-op Ice Hockey and Basketball.

We can’t wait for opening nights of Parker Theater’s fall productions: The Wolves and The Chronicles of Jane. The performances for The Wolves will be on Friday, December 2nd and Saturday, December 3rd at 7 PM in the Auditorium. The Performances for The Chronicles of Jane will be on Thursday, December 1st at 7 PM and Saturday, December 3rd at 3 PM in the Auditorium. Tickets will be sold at the door. We look forward to seeing your hard work and talent on stage!

Have a great Thanksgiving.

Progress Reports Sent Home This Week

Students and parents/guardians should have received an email with the November Progress Reports (pdf file attached) earlier this week.  Families: please take the time to read these reports!  The email you received also explains some changes we have made to the reports, based on feedback we solicited last year about them.  We continue to seek your feedback as we revise our reporting systems.  At your earliest convenience, PLEASE take a few minutes and complete the parent/guardian feedback survey about the November reports linked here. (Students will do a different survey in school and this link is just for adults.)

Cross-Country State Finals

Parker’s Boys Cross Country team will be competing this Saturday, November 19, in the All-State Championship on Fort Devens. They will race at 1:15 PM. The race is a 3-loop course (5k) entirely within Willard Park. Families can park at Parker or any other lot. Please come out and support the team!

Congratulations to our Soccer All-Stars! Katie Collins, Christina Edmondson and Savannah Kuliesis were named to the girls League All-Star team. Katie and Christina were also named to the CMass All-Star team. Trevor Edmondson, Owen Madera, and Theo Murphy earned League All-Star honors on the boys team. Click here for photos.

LAST CALL to Sign-up Students for Dental Care at Parker

Last call for students to sign up to receive dental care here at Parker School through the Caring for Kids program on Tuesday, November 22nd. Please read about the program and complete the documents HERE and return to Nurse Lisa as soon as possible. Email Lisa with questions at [email protected]

Lawn Signs

Thank you to all the families that have taken home lawn signs! We are grateful for your help spreading the word about Parker and to have the signs distributed and in the ground before it freezes.

At-Home COVID-19 Testing

We will be sending at-home COVID-19 test kits home on Tuesday, November 22nd.  These tests are intended for use by students and staff to support the return to school process after Thanksgiving. We will also distribute at-home kits prior to the Winter break. We recommend tests be used no sooner than 24 hours prior to returning to school after these holiday breaks. Since there are two tests in each box, one test can be used prior to holiday visits if desired.

Winter Sports

Reminder all practices will begin on Monday, November 28th, and will be held Mon-Fri that week. Sports offered are Winter Track, Basketball (middle school, JV, and Varsity), and Co-op Ice Hockey through Littleton.  If you have not registered yet, please do so as soon as possible using this form: Athlete Registration. Parents must provide proof of a current physical exam at the beginning of every season of participation. A Sports User Fee of $300 is due prior to the first game. Click here for more information.

Ski & Snowboard Club

Cost of 6-week lift badge increases from $173 to $203 on 12/1/22. Program starts January 4, 2023. Please click here for all the details and how to register.

Parker SEPAC (Special Education Parent's Advisory Council)

Reminder the next meeting is Wednesday, November 30, 2022, at 6:30 PM (REMOTE). Please join us and learn more about SEPAC! Email [email protected] if you are interested in being a member of the SEPAC Board, or if you have any questions.

75th Anniversary Toys for Tots logo

The 2022 holiday season marks the 7th Anniversary of the Marine Corps Reserve Toys for Tots Program! For over seven decades, this Program has evolved and grown exponentially, having delivered hope and the magic of Christmas to over 281 million less fortunate children.

The toys, books and other gifts collected and distributed by Marines and volunteers offer these children recognition, confidence and a positive memory for a lifetime. It is believed that such experiences help disadvantaged children to become responsible citizens and caring members of their community.

Help Parker support this great cause by dropping off new, unwrapped toys in the TOYS for TOTS donation bin located in the Front Lobby of our school until December 9th. Please help our effort to bring a ray of holiday joy to a child in need. THANKS FOR YOUR SUPPORT! For more information, visit

Weather Related Delays and Closings

Reminder when school is cancelled or delayed because of inclement weather, Parker uses an automated phone calling service, the school’s website and voicemail, and local media outlets to inform families of the closing or delay. Because Parkers students come from over forty cities and towns throughout Central Massachusetts, it’s important for Parker families to exercise independent critical judgement, based on observed local conditions, when deciding whether to travel to campus during inclement weather.

Is your student extending Thanksgiving break? Remember to contact the main office and let us know when your student(s) will be absent. The attendance line (978-772-3293, ext. 1) is available 24 hours a day.
