Family Information for November 13th

Family Information for November 13th
Parker Families,

In August, Parker made a local decision to use the Remote Plus school model based on what we knew at the time about COVID infection rates in our region, our belief that digital tools give us the best chance to deliver our academic program with fidelity, and DESE’s regulatory guardrails.

Some of you have asked about Parker’s school model plans in light of revised expectations and guidance issued by the Baker administration and DESE last week. The faculty and staff will begin discussing these changes and related questions next week. We anticipate surveying students and families as part of this process and will welcome your input when the survey is developed and distributed.

This week’s topics:
  • Café Wednesday
  • Ski Club Coordinator Needed
  • Flu Vaccine
  • Materials Pick-Up
  • Student Art Calendar for Sale
  • Student Meal Registration
  • Regional Pod Information Collection
  • Attendance
  • Information Pages
Be safe and well,

Café Wednesday

Café Wednesday is next week, November 18th, at 6:30 PM. The link to Join and watch the event was included in the Friday Email. We look forward to seeing you then!

Coordinator Needed for Modified Parker Ski/Snowboard Club

Wachusett Mountain is offering a modified school program this season. Each school is responsible for finding their own transportation (car or bus) to the mountain, which will also act as their “lodge” while at the mountain. No one is allowed in the lodge except to use the restrooms. They will have extra chairs and heaters outside. Everyone must wear a face mask and practice social distancing.

Unfortunately, Leslie Neville is not able to organize the club this year with these restrictions. Please contact Leslie if you are a Parker parent or guardian interested in coordinating a modified ski club this winter: Leslie Neville,

Flu Vaccine

Per the State of Massachusetts, the influenza (flu) vaccine is required for all students. The new vaccine requirement is an important step to reduce flu-related illness and the overall impact of respiratory illness during the COVID-19 pandemic. The deadline for your child to receive the vaccine is 12/31/20 unless either a medical or religious exemption is provided. Please make an appointment with your child's primary care physician or go to a local pharmacy to get the flu vaccine. Contact Lisa at with questions.

Materials Pick-up

Available in the Parker lobby beginning November 18th:

  • Div 1 AH – Animal Farm and theme tracker – Needed by 11/30
  • Div 3 AH/What’s So Funny – Choice Book – Needed by 11/30
  • Spanish books as indicated by your teacher

The lobby is open on school days from 8 AM – 3:30 PM. Other arrangements can be made by emailing Monique at

Student Art Calendar for Sale

Art Calendar Sample.jpgReminder that this year, in lieu of the Art Sale, we have created a fabulous 2021 Wall Calendar featuring Student Artwork focusing on this year’s essential question, “How Do We Stand Up For What Is Right?”, with a focus on the concept of HOPE. We HOPE that our community will come together and purchase these very meaningful wall calendars to honor student work and raise funds for the school! Calendars will be available for pick up by December 17th — just in time for the winter holiday season. To support Parker Arts and Our Essential Commitment Fund, click here to order by December 1st.

Student Meal Registration

Reminder that Parker is participating in a school meal program through a waiver in a USDA program that provides breakfast and lunch (at no cost) to any students ages 0-21. If you are interested in this program, please click here for information about service at Parker (and other locations throughout the state). Please SIGN UP for the program via this link so that we can anticipate numbers of meals needed: Student Meal Registration. Pick up hours are from 7 – 9 AM on Tuesdays and Fridays. Note that the program rules require us to provide meals on a first come, first served basis, so filling out the form allows us to better anticipate need. Any questions, contact Michelle McKenna

Regional Pod Information Collection

Reminder to families interested in forming small town/regional social/learning pods. The school is coordinating the collection and sharing of names and contact information of families who might be interested in talking to each other about this option. Establishing these pods is entirely up to the families involved. If you are interested in having your name/contact info on this list, please contact Monique at for more information.

Reminder to be sure a parent or guardian leaves a message on the attendance line BEFORE 9:00 AM [978-772-3293, ext. 1] with the student’s name and reason for absence from class.

2020-2021 Information Pages

Reminder to check the 2020-2021 school information pages for FAQs, technical support guidance, and the Wednesday Flex Activity information. If you have a question you would like to see addressed on these pages, please email it to
