Parker Families,
The tent is going up on Sunday! And next week members of the Class of 2022 will gather to celebrate their accomplishments, receive their diplomas, and accept the warm embrace of family and friends. Commencement, like gateway exhibitions, is both a moment in time and a milestone signaling the end of something and the beginning of something else.
Commencement is also the result of tremendous collective effort. Faculty and student speakers will write, revise, and rehearse their speeches; facilities and technology staff will set up the tent for our guests and graduates; seniors will spend much of Monday rehearsing the ceremony. The proceedings will be live-streamed at 6:00PM on Wednesday evening (look for link on Parker’s website).
Student valedictory remarks are each approximately two minutes long, and often as many as twenty seniors choose to speak and go through the requisite coaching and preparation. The result is compelling. An audience member at a Parker commencement told me “…I learned as much about Parker in the thirty minutes of student speeches as I did in our five years here…” And I think what she meant by that, in part, was the sheer variety of topics, images, and anecdotes student speakers shared—each voice distinct, authentic, thoughtful—and yet of a piece with the other speakers and their stories. We look forward to hearing from and celebrating the accomplishments of the Class of 2022 next week!
—Todd

Tracking COVID-19 Numbers at Parker
Positive COVID-19 cases in the Parker community are reported to the Department of Secondary and Elementary Education (DESE) and to the Nashoba Associated Boards of Health, which is our local board of health. The following are positive cases in the Parker community from 5/27/22-6/3/22:
- Staff – 1
- Students – 17
COVID-19 Safety Checks
UPDATE: Thank you to those who participated in the COVID Safety Checks (pooled testing) these past two years. As a school, we had a great turnout and I appreciate your assistance and support during this difficult time. The last day for COVID Safety Checks will be Wednesday, June 8th. Have a wonderful summer!
-Nurse Lisa
There are currently less swabs in each tube, and therefore a larger number of pools. Having fewer samples in each tube reduces the number of community members who have to be re-tested when a pool comes back from the lab with a positive or inconclusive result.
Pooled Test Results from 5/27/22-6/3/22:
- # of pools = 73
- # of NEGATIVE pools = 71
- # of POSITIVE pools = 2
- # of INCONCLUSIVE pools = 0
