Dear Parker Community,

                As promised in last week’s email, I’m writing with an update about the school leadership succession process.  Two related documents are attached.

                We have already accomplished the initial steps outlined last week:  we have issued a Request for Proposals (RFP) from executive search firms and built a “one-stop” page on the Parker website for current information about the leadership transition process.  While executive search firms are writing their proposals (due 1 October), I am writing today to recruit volunteers for the Search Committee.

                In keeping with its commitment to a school leader selection process that is thorough, transparent, inclusive, and equitable, Parker’s Board of Trustees will appoint a Search Committee that is broadly representative of the school community as a whole and drawn from all key constituencies of the school, including, but not limited to: Trustees, current students, former students and graduates, faculty and staff, and parents.

                The Search Committee will meet regularly throughout the process, working closely with a professional Search Consultant.  Search Committee members will maintain confidentiality (out of respect for candidates) as they review candidate files, participate in interviews, deliberate as a committee, and make recommendations to the Board of Trustees.  In total, from October to March, the Search Committee will invest approximately forty hours in this important and valuable work for Parker; the Search Committee’s meeting schedule is likely to include evenings and weekends.
