Dear Parker Parents:
The purpose of Parker Student Services is to provide assistance and guidance to students who may require additional academic support. The Parker Parent Advisory Council (PAC) provides assistance and guidance to their parents and constructive feedback to the school on their efforts.
If you have questions about academic support services or how to initiate an evaluation for your student should you think that they may require additional support, please attend the Parker Basic Rights Workshop at 7:30-8:30 PM on Thursday, April 27th at Parker. There you can meet with support staff and Special Education Coordinator, Terry Weisinger, as well as PAC members and have your questions answered. If you are interested in more information, but can't make the workshop or want information about additional services outside of Parker (e.g., executive function coaching, social pragmatics groups, or other outside service provider), please email Lisa McLaughlin at the address listed below.
One of the initiatives that the PAC has been working on with school staff this year has been transition services to help students who require additional support to adjust to a life post-Parker. In particular, we have been evaluating available outside service organizations such as the Massachusetts Rehabilitation Commission which may be able to help some of our students transition to either employment or higher education post-Parker.
If you are interested in learning about how to initiate services for your child at Parker or find out more about post-Parker options, please join us on April 27th.
