MCAS Testing Schedule for SPRING - Please Donate Old Calculators

Dear Families:

Do you have any older calculators around the house that you are no longer using? The school is in need of some additional scientific calculators (NOT graphing calculators) for the upcoming MCAS (new restrictions and requirements have been put in place about the kinds of calculators the school must provide to students).

Scientific calculators have a lot of "extra" buttons (like cube roots and parentheses) that go beyond a simple 5-function calculator, but NOT the big screen and graphing functions of a (TI-83 style) graphing calculator.  We would certainly put any donated 5-function calculators or graphing calculators to use, but the current need is for scientific calculators.

If you have any of these types of calculators lying around gathering dust, please feel free to drop them off at the front office!  Much appreciated.

MCAS Testing Schedule for SPRING

Division 1 and 2 students will be testing on various days during the months of March, April, May, and June, following the schedule listed below. Please make every effort to have students in school and on time for these testing days. All students should eat a good breakfast each day, bring pencils, and bring a book to read if they finish testing early. iPods, cell phones, Kindles, smart watches, and other related electronics or internet enabled devices are NOT allowed in testing situations. Students should be prepared to leave these at home or in their bags for the entirety of the testing periods. Students who miss any of these testing days will need to make-up the tests at a later time.

If you have any questions, please contact Deb Merriam (

All tests are untimed, and most students finish by late morning. Please see grade/test specific emails that will go home as each test gets nearer, as many details for MCAS testing (for 7th and 8th graders) have changed thie year based on state-level changes to testing policies and procedures.
